‘The sommes has long inhabited a place that now inhabits them too. Little by little, by dint of living there, they have melted into it, and their perception of themself has merged with the matter they carry, and with the environment that surrounds them, like a snail in its shell, a bird in its nest in its tree. The notion of being-itself has taken precedence over that of having, it has expanded, and the "I" of sommes has become blurred.’
